Indulge in the irresistible combination of tender, cinnamon-spiced apples topped with a crunchy oat-almond crumble, all generously drizzled with a luscious homemade caramel sauce. This gluten-free dessert is perfect for cozy gatherings or a comforting treat any time of the year.

Ingredients:

  • 6 medium-sized apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup gluten-free rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup almond flour
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup melted coconut oil
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts optional
  • 1/2 cup coconut cream
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter or dairy-free alternative
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

Start by heating the oven to 350F 175C

A 9x9-inch baking dish should be greased

Toss the sliced apples with the granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a large bowl until the apples are well covered

Put the mixture into the baking dish that has been prepared

The gluten-free rolled oats, almond flour, brown sugar, melted coconut oil, and chopped nuts if using should all be mixed together in a different bowl

Mix until it falls apart

Cover the apples in the baking dish with the oat mixture

Put it in an oven that has already been heated up and bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are soft

Make the simple caramel sauce while the crisp is baking

Take a saucepan and place it over medium-low heat

Add the brown sugar, butter, and a pinch of salt

It will take about 5 to 7 minutes of stirring nonstop until the mixture comes to a simmer and the sugar is completely mixed in

Take it off the heat

After the crisp is done, let it cool down for a few minutes before you serve it

Add warm caramel sauce on top and enjoy!
